You know that feeling when you start watching a movie and you realize about 15 minutes into it that the movie isn’t really any good. I’m one of those people who can’t stop watching it. I feel like I’m “quitting” if I turn it off. So, I usually stick with it till the very end. ..even if it stinks.
Such was the case the other day. Sat down to watch a movie and soon realized that it would be more productive to clean out my closet instead of watch, but I kept at it. And am I ever glad that I did!
Toward the end, the hero of the plotline shared a sweet story with the heroine about Play-doh. You see, Play-doh was originally created and used as a wallpaper cleaning substance. After a few years, the inventor realized how much fun children would have playing with it as a craft since it was softer and easier to mold than traditional modeling clay. The inventors added colors and, voila…Play-doh was born. Hero was sharing this story with Heroine because she needed to be reminded that sometimes your life just needs a bit of adjustment to set things in a new direction. It was a sweet scene that brought a few tears to my eyes (I’m just a big ‘ole sentimental girl) and created a memorable moment when I wasn’t expecting it.
I love movie moments like that - when something happens that you aren’t expecting; or when the Hero says just the right thing in just the right way to completely change the Heroine’s mind; or when the musical score is so majestic that you have to download it right away. (That’s me with the soundtrack to Pride & Prejudice playing in the background whenever I’m working on a fundraiser!) Some movie moments are just magical to me.
This particular moment reminded me that just a little bit of adjustment to a situation, or looking at something from a different view, can really make an impact on your life.
And that makes me smile.
